Haven’t made mom’s birthday cake yet. I’m a busy lady since she got sick. 2/18/32
Connie and Billie Thompson up all day yesterday. Jenny Tyler here too. 2/19/32
Made a birthday cake for mom. A little late but this way, we’ll have some for Sunday dinner. 2/20/32

My valentine and my reading are the month’s lights. And of course, there is an extra day. 2/29/32
Company from Colorado. Eckharts, Eddie Inman and Jenny Turner. What a rough house. Is 13 a lucky number!!
We aren’t going to do any Christmas shopping this year. We’ll just have to love each other an extra lot.
Spencer’s and Edith Delay down in afternoon. One gets used to not having company now.
Dad is getting little worry lines around his eyes, and feels pretty well “tied down.”
Thanksgiving. A snowy one. Invited to Spencer’s but didn’t venture out. Alice sent a ducky wish-bone greeting.
Anyone? A “ducky wish-bone greeting”?
Rained yesterday; then froze. Everything beautiful with ice. Trees are bent over with the weight.
“There’s a schooner in the offing, With her topsails shot with fire, And my heart has gone abroad her, For the Islands of Desire.” - Richard Hovey
Pretty hot, grandma! I wonder who is on your mind.
We are about to run out of apples. What will we ever do without them?
Grandma is thrilled to see the apples go!
My dog and I often go adventuring in the morning. He hunts bugs and I hunt rocks. We are reverting back to type.
I love picturing Grandma wandering the farm roads with a pup. Also, I want a dog!
My but Ivan is getting grown up! Nineteen! Makes me feel rather a child! Don’t care though; my birthday’s “first”
This is a funny thing for a sixteen year old to write.
Bought a library card for three months. Am going to try to keep from going to seed.
Ha! Farm pun. Also, what’s up with having to buy a library card? I love my libraries (thank you L.A. Public Library and Santa Monica Public Library) and the fact that they’re free.
Billy Shambaugh ran off and came over here. His mom came to get him and “warmed his little jacket.”
Is this code for Billy getting a spanking?
Have decided to go to the University of West Virginia. My pocket book has not yet been convinced however.
This is exciting! I assume Grandma means as a student, but I haven’t heard anything else about college up to now.
Also, I’m adding “feminist” as a tag, although I don’t know how Grandma would feel about that. I feel good about it though.
